The Mid-American Model United Nations is the largest high school model United Nations in the mid-west. Since 1974, students from Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Kansas have participated at MAMUN.

MAMUN gives high school students the opportunity to learn about international affairs, while at the same time allowing them to improve their communication, research and negotiation skills.

MAMUN occurs each year, on the first Monday and Tuesday of November, except in presidential election years. The 34th Mid-American Model UN will be held on November 5-6, 2007 at the Plaster Student Union on the campus of Missouri State University.

Participating schools are assigned a country to represent in the committees simulated at MAMUN. Each country may send up to two students per committee. Conference fees are $60 per country and $30 for Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), with each country consisting of up to 12 students and each NGO allowing up to 4 students. To register, contact the World Affairs Council at wac@missouristate.edu or at (417) 836-8592.

MAMUN will also be running a simulation of the International Court of Justice. Students will participate as justices, hearing cases that are presented by advocates supplied by MAMUN. Seats on the ICJ will be awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis to all registered school. Please contact the World Affairs Council at wac@missouristate.edu or at (417) 836-8592 to apply for a seat on the ICJ.
