The World Affairs Council of Missouri State University is a student-run organization that exists to further the university’s public affairs mission in the realm of international politics and foreign affairs. We do this by attending several collegiate model UN conferences in different parts of the U.S. every year; as well as hosting other events such as film screenings and helping with Public Affairs Week. On top of all that, we also host a model UN conference for high school students every fall known as the Mid-American Model United Nations.

That’s not to say we don’t enjoy ourselves. WAC is also an organization for students interested in foreign affairs and politics to meet and get to know one another (especially on university-subsidized trips to cities like Chicago and Anaheim). For example: where else can you have a beer with a gaggle of Australian dancers in an Anaheim hotel and talk about whether or not the toilets really do flush backwards down under?

If you’re interested, meetings are every Thursday at 5 PM in Strong 301 during the fall and spring semesters.
