Dear MAMUN family,
We have topic briefs up! There are about half of the topic briefs now available on the “Topics Page.” Just click the title of the topic and it should open up a file. All of the briefs will be available by Friday. If you have trouble opening the files, let us know so we can find another way to get the briefs to you.
Also, Missouri State University in its infinite wisdom has decided to change its email system. In this process, we have been having trouble accessing the wac@missouristate.edu email address. Therefor, if you have any questions for the time being, please email Justin or I directly. Here are our emails:
Justin Mellish- Secretary General of MAMUN
Justin777@live.missouristate.edu
Megan Hammer- WAC President and Undersecretary General of MAMUN
mah1988@live.missouristate.edu
Thanks! More topic briefs to come!

Thanks to Missouri Academy for accepting representation of the PLO. We strongly believe that this will enhance our conference!
Also, please be expecting letters within the next week. The letter will contain your final registration form. We can’t wait for MAMUN!
One more thing, the Missouri State e-mail system is currently in transition. If you need to contact us, please email me at justin777@live.missouristate.edu

Dear MAMUN Family,
One of the topics for ECOSOC this year is the state of Palestinian Women. There are also several topics related to crisis in the Middle East. However, we do not have a delegation registered to portray the Palestinian Liberation Organization.
After some deliberation among the World Affairs Council officers, we have decided that it is important enough to have the PLO represented that we will wave the $35 observer state fee for the first school willing to send 2-6 students to play the PLO at MAMUN.
The PLO is the only entity recognized to speak for the Palestinian people by the United Nations. The PLO is classified as an “Observer State” which means they may engage in the debates of the General Assembly and ECOSOC Committees, but not vote on resolutions. If you have any questions about the PLO or the observer state status, feel free to contact me. I represented the PLO last year at the American Model UN conference and have a good understanding of how it works.
Also, note that just because you are an “Observer State” does not mean you are at any disadvantage whatsoever when it comes to awards. In fact, the year that WAC recieved the “Overall Distinguished Delegation” award in Chicago, was the year we played the PLO.
If you are interested in sending a team to represent the PLO please email our Secretary General, Justin Mellish at Justin777@live.missouristate.edu.
The spot will be awarded at a first come first serve basis.
Thanks,
Megan Hammer,
World Affairs Council President
